This is a day for painters who want to really dig into their work and get professional support and feedback. it is designed to be a day of creativity and making - so be prepared to work hard but have fun too!
We can look at practical, skills-based and theoretical aspects of your practice depending on what you need support with.
Please note you must be 18+ to book any workshops with me.

I provide a general range of painting and drawing materials - oils, acrylic and watercolours plus drawing media such as pastels and charcoal, plus paper and general studio kit.
You would need to bring any stretched canvas or boards and you’re welcome to bring any materials or equipment of your own.
My studio has easels, work tables and plenty of wall space available depending on how you prefer to work.
Please get in touch if you want to discuss materials in more detail before you book.

My studio is a single story, ground floor building - forming part of a farm building complex. It’s accessed directly from a pavement outside.
There is free parking on-site adjacent to the studio and room to leave a bike.
Sugar Hill Farm is on a main bus route (840) and a short walk up a single track lane from the main road.
There are ground floor WCs a short walk outside from the studio. These facilities are basic but clean - unfortunately, they’re not fully accessible due to the layout of the building.
If you have any enquiries about access then don’t hesitate to get in touch - I’m happy to provide more detailed information as required.

I’m a professional painter who splits their time between studio practice and teaching.
I have a BA (hons) and MA in Fine Art (Painting) and i’ve been working in the arts and art education for 30 years. I’m also a qualified adult eduction tutor.
My own work informs how I teach but I’m also interested in the wider context of painting and helping others develop their practice in whatever style or subject matter that might be.
I’ve exhibited across the UK, and sell directly via open studios and online.
You can read more about me on my About page, or drop me an email.

We discuss you aims before the day, so I can get the studio ready and put together a plan for you.
Each day varies depending on the artist, but we usually start with experimental work before moving onto more in-depth ideas. It’s really fluid, so we can look at lots of different things, or focus on one or two ideas.
We have tea breaks as needed and well stop for a lunch break - you’re welcome to have your lunch in the studio with me, or pop out for a bit if you prefer. The nearest cafes are about a 5 minute drive from the studio.
